Q: Anyone know good clinically approved test to analyse the severity of Bipolar disorder I?
I am currently writing a paper and am looking for a good assessment survey for a supposed client who has bipolar. I want to test the severity of her disorder and how it affects her life. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks Jennifer. I do have to find some kind of survey to “administer” to a patient in my paper, but just like you said, I am having trouble finding one and am not sure one exists. The only thing I have found thus far is a mood survey so, maybe I can assess the mood during the manic episode to tell when it’s severity is decreasing or something like that? I’m not sure what to do. Thanks for your help, though!
A: There is no “test” for bipolar. What I would suggest is to look at the level of symptoms using psychiatrists criteria for bipolar 1 vs bipolar 2
Q: How to test bipolar junction transistors and identify its terminals?
A: base
collector
emitter moving clockwise from the little sticky out pointy thing for an NPN transistor
Many multimeters have a transistor test feature
Q: Will a doctor test for bipolar if i ask them?
I’m currently diagnosed as depressed with agoraphobia and anxiety, but the docs etc never really listen. A LOT of people, including my bipolar 2 and bipolar 1 brother and uncle think i have it. If i go to doctor and say ‘i think i’m bipolar’ will they pay any attention?
A: Have you told your doctor of your family history? If you have and he didn’t even try and test you out, doesn’t give you a lot of confidence. Anyway, just go and tell him directly and if he doesn’t listen, look for another doctor.

Q: How do doctor’s test for to see if you are BiPolar?
I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety 12 years ago. Through meds and therapy I am somewhat better. However I have times of great highs followed by the lowest lows. It is like I have no middle ground. I am either elated or incredibly depressed. My new therapist recently suggested I might be BiPolar. How do they test or determine if you have it or not? I am very nervous (doctors and tests are a big phobia of mine) and would feel better if I knew more about what to expect (especially from someone who has been through it and not just a doctor). Thank you!
A: If you do have bipolar disorder, your life can be so much better if you are on the right meds. Who is prescribing your meds? See a psychiatrist and tell them your story. There is no test, per se, for Bipolar Disorder. A psychiatrist will assess you to see what mood you are in now and listen to your story for a history of your moods and anxiety. If they believe that you have experienced mania or mixed (manic and depressed) moods then you may receive a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and the right medication. It is so worth it. Take care of yourself. Here is some information on bipolar disorder that I hope helps.

Q: Is it possible to get a negative in a bipolar screening test?even though you have it in reality?
is it hard to diagnose bipolar?
A: sometimes they will come out to be that u dont have it, but u do indeed suffer mildly from it. Bipolar is not as common as people think, and isn’t wut people think always, too. Episodes of MANIA… which is wow wow wow, lets do this! i’m on top of the world! wanna get ice cream? lets go to the movies! oh man life is so incredible! come over! attention!!! That kind of thing, and then of course there is the DEPRESSIVE episodes of hopeless feelings, carelessness, extreme sadness, tired a lot, u know… so don’t be fooled by wut u think, a psychiatrist would know more about this than a doctor because they are specialized in mental illness, however, i agree the diagnostics are subjective. If they are looking for bipolar, they will probably find a way to say you have it..

Q: when will a test for bipolar or ocd or any other disorder be developed?
will there be a test for bipolar or add or ocd or any other disorder like that and if so when will such a test come out
A: there are different questionnaires to diagnose these disorders, i believe it will never happen. it takes a life time of mental illness to diagnose these correctly, especially for bipolar. it is very tricky to diagnose. everyone is different, there is hardly going to be one test to diagnose them all.
Q: Is there a test you can take online to help detect if your bipolar?
I think im bipolar and i want to take a test online is this possible. I don’t have health insurance so i cant go to the doctor and i do have a history of depression can someone give me a link to take a test?
A: Well I’m not sure if this will help but here are two links. Try them a see if they help you. I hope so!
Q: How do they test you for bipolar disorder?
Just wondering how they go about testing you for bipolar disorder???
A: Yes, it typically requires a psychological evaluation with a psychologist or psychiatrist. A great deal is determined by your past behavior. A person with a bipolar disorder usually has a history of significant mood swings, from severly depressed to manic, incongruent with what is actually going on in the environment. For example, a person may become quite depressed despite learning that they just won the lottery; or become hyperexcited and exuberant despite learning of a death in the family. In both cases the person can be extraordinarily and unrealistically pessimistic (unable to mobilize even the slightest effort) or optimistic (e.g., with little sleep for days and a whirlwind of expansive activity and spending great amounts of money for some ambitous future project).
Although no one knows that exact cause of this disorder biologic and genetic factors are likely to play a major role. Mood swings can vary a great deal (e.g., monthly, weekly, even daily) with certain features, such a depression, dominating the presentation with only mild and fleeting mania.
There are other conditions that have similar features (e.g., certain personality disorders and substance abuse), that a good psychologist will “rule out” based on the interview.
In addition, the are personality tests that can support the diagnsotic impression (but no one test is definitive). (e.g., MMPI2, MCMI-III, PAI). These tests are “normed” on thousands of people. For example, if your overall pattern of responding matches a thousand other people and they all have a bipolar disorder, then you might as well (might is the key word). The inkblot or Rorschach test is not often used for this type of problem.
In my personal opinion, a bipolar diagnosis is often over used. There are some effective medications for a bipolar diagnosis and consequently, many clinicians tend to err on the side of bipolar to see if the medications might help.
Good luck.
Q: How does one go about getting a test for bipolar/ADD, or other mental health related illnesses?
A counselor recommend I get a cognitive psychological analysis done. What does this mean? Where do you go to get a comprehensive mental health screening? Are they special clinics? Does insurance cover this stuff usually?
She believes I have ADD and should go through a screening, but said they are expensive. What are they called? Thanks!!!!!
A: first go your doctor then he will refer you to a psychiatrist who will order the necessary tests. Good luck
Q: What would a therapist do to find out wheather you are bipolar or not? Do they like do a physical test or what
My cousler thinks that i might have manic depression also know as bipolar. She recommended a therapist, so i wanted to know how a therapist would find out. Do they just ask you questions or do they do a test. What happens and how do they find out? thanx for all answers.
by the way im a girl 13 years old, thanx for the answers.
A: A psychiatrist is the right doctor to go to first – not a therapist.
Questions are asked. You discuss your feelings and moods. The psychiatrist is best qualified to make a proper assessment and diagnosis.
In addition, the psychiatrist is the doc you want to help you with this disorder. A therapist can come later, if necessary.
Q: How do I ask my doctor for a test to see if I am Bipolar?
How do I go about telling my doctor?
What is the test like?
Where do you have to go to take it?
Is it reliable?
Is it free?
Will your doctor let you take it even if they think your not bipolar?
Thanks in advance
A: There is no test like an xray or biopsy. A dr ( preferably ) a psychiatrist will talk to u. Answer them honestly. They may want to ( only with ur signed consent ) talk to others who know u well family and therapist perhaps a close friend. You may even suggest this. Based on reported and observed symptoms they make a diagnosis and suggest treatment. This explains it better
how is bipolar disorder diagnosed?
The first step in getting a proper diagnosis is to talk to a doctor, who may conduct a physical examination, an interview, and lab tests. Bipolar disorder cannot currently be identified through a blood test or a brain scan, but these tests can help rule out other contributing factors, such as a stroke or brain tumor. If the problems are not caused by other illnesses, the doctor may conduct a mental health evaluation. The doctor may also provide a referral to a trained mental health professional, such as a psychiatrist, who is experienced in diagnosing and treating bipolar disorder.
The doctor or mental health professional should conduct a complete diagnostic evaluation. He or she should discuss any family history of bipolar disorder or other mental illnesses and get a complete history of symptoms. The doctor or mental health professionals should also talk to the person’s close relatives or spouse and note how they describe the person’s symptoms and family medical history.
People with bipolar disorder are more likely to seek help when they are depressed than when experiencing mania or hypomania.17 Therefore, a careful medical history is needed to assure that bipolar disorder is not mistakenly diagnosed as major depressive disorder, which is also called unipolar depression. Unlike people with bipolar disorder, people who have unipolar depression do not experience mania. Whenever possible, previous records and input from family and friends should also be included in the medical history
Q: Can you test to see if you have a genetic predisposition for bipolar disorder?
A relative of mine has bipolar disorder brought out when his mom passed away however his brothers and immediate family are puzzled because as far as they know no one in their family has a history of bipolar disorder or any other mental illness……I know that you can have the genetic predisposition for it and never get the disorder…is there a way to have yourself tested
A: There is no test, sorry. But tracing family history of mental illness may help you get a better idea of what may develop. My grandmothers and many of my aunts have anxiety issues, my dad and grandfather had depression, one cousin has BPD and I’ve recently been diagnosed BD II. Sometimes one mental illness predisposes a person to another. My cousin and I are the only ones with that diagnosis in the family!
Q: I think I’m bipolar. How do doctors test for it?
I want to see a doctor about it, but i just wanna know what they’ll do to me. how do they test for bipolar?
A: They interview you and then they try you on medication to see if anything changes.
I hope you aren’t bipolar. Everything about it sucks, including the treatment. Good luck.
Q: Is there a online bipolar test?
If so please list. thanks.
A: Yes there are but do not go by those. Almost anyone can make themselves fit the criteria for bipolar as listed in those tests based on their interpretation of what each symptom means. You need a Dr to read into the the interpretation of the symptoms and if you fit them. If you think that you might have it, then see a dr. Many other things can cause those symptoms too so a dr needs to rule things out.
Q: Online Bipolar Test(s) ?
I know a person that took, lets say ( for information purposes only ) 5 bipolar tests online. Each test said this person was bipolar and should contact a doctor….lol, I took the test and answered the questions honestly and it said I was depressed. Anyways, how much weight should we give these online bipolar tests ?
A: not alot
