Over the last 2 weeks, how often have you been bothered by any of the following problems?

Not at all Several days More than half the days Nearly every day

1. Little interest or pleasure in doing things

2. Feeling down, depressed, or hopeless

3. Trouble falling or staying asleep, or sleeping too much

4. Feeling tired or having little energy

5. Poor appetite or overeating

6. Feeling bad about yourself—or that you are a failure or have let yourself or your family down

7. Trouble concentrating on things, such as reading the newspaper or watching television

8. Moving or speaking so slowly that other people could have noticed. Or the opposite—being so fidgety or restless that you have been moving around a lot more than usual

9. Thoughts that you would be better off dead, or of hurting yourself in some way

If you checked off any problems, how difficult have these problems made it for you to do your work, take care of things at home, or get along with other people?

Very difficult
Extremely difficult

I’ve been thru depression and there is help! I didn’t realize that was what was wrong with me for a long time, I just cried so much and felt like if I died the pain would go away. It was the pit of hell. Talking to your doctor about it and getting the right medication for you will make a world of difference, and no, they didn’t put me in the hospital. Actually it is a very common thing, and like 1 out of 3 people are taking some sort of anti-depressant. It’s just a chemical imbalance in your brain, and it can be helped!

Q: I did a depression test, it said i had bad depression and should see someone, what should i do?
Here is my answer !

Results and recommendations

Your screening results indicate a high likelihood that you are suffering from severe depression.

Your answers also show you might be at risk for harming yourself.

You are advised to see your doctor or a mental health professional immediately for a complete evaluation – or dial “911″ – or call 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255). – or go immediately to the nearest hospital Emergency Room for an evaluation.

This screening is not a substitute for a complete clinical evaluation.

The good news is clinical depression is a very treatable illness. Almost everyone who receives appropriate treatment can soon feel better.

A: Most “self-help” tests of this kind are not worth the paper they are printed on and certainly not the time you spent on it.

If you are depressed you will know you are – you will frequently feel low and worthless, you will be snappy and off hand with those close to you and you will generally not see much to be happy about.

You will also certainly know if you are having any thoughts of self-harm – or more importantly if you had any such thoughts before taking the silly test.

IF you are depressed, and especially if you did have serious thoughts of self harm you MUST see a doctor urgently who may refer you to a psychiatrist. Either should be able to help you.

Q: Is there a blood test to diagnose anxiety and depression?

A: for depression, bi-polar disorder and other sever mental illnesses they do a spinal tap. Mine revealed severe inability to produce the chemicals needed to maintain emotional balance. I don’t remember anything about the tap.

Q: my depression test reluts?
was 67% out of 100
im 15
is that normal and is that considered really depressed?

A: that’s considered to be a little above average, but then again you are 15, and going through alot of changes in your life which can make you confuse depression with just a phase in your life right now.

Q: I got a 76 out of 100 on an online depression test?
It seems pretty legit to me.
Queendom.com (around 100 questions)

Unfortunately unless I want to know more how bad 76/100 is, I would have to pay. So would this score be sever depression? I’ve always wanted to go to a doctor but my parents won’t let me because they believe that the reason I am a failure is because I’m trying to make them mad on purpose. No one in my family will help me out. Should I wait until i’m an legal adult or continue my pessimistic life?

A: Hello there,

Depression or anxiety, they are all signs of FEAR. May be FEAR OF people and what they think of us (whether they like us or not) and GUILT from blaming ourselves for all the things that have gone wrong or SADNESS for our loss.

Out of the whole confusion we may become frustrated which also brings ANGER depending on our personality type. Or we simply decide that LIFE is useless and feed this information into our minds which also process it over and over until it become our attitude and translate into our behaviour.

If we ACCEPTS ourselves, we will not wait for others to like us before we feel HAPPY. Normally the motive behind our actions depends on how we feel about ourselves (how valuable or invaluable we think we are). The way you FEEL depends on your MOOD
your MOOD depends on the things you THINK about (in terms of who you think you are)

Depending on whether you see your self in a positive or negative light you get happy or depressed. So the way you feel within a day in your life depends on YOU. YOU are what you decide to think about.WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT YOU DOES NOT COUNT

God knew negative events and opinions of people may into our minds and AFFECT the way we think, so he made us PERFECT so that we will always remember that.

Unfortunately, as we grow up we start listening and believing the negative things people say and about us and do to us and we ourselves starts seeing and believing negative things about ourselves and it becomes our normal pattern of thinking and surely.
in this case you believe you are not good looking enough and have not accepted your self but you are looking out for people to like you first. This will only will bring

depression,
misery and
dissatisfaction with our own lives and
worse of all low self esteem because we dont like who we are

You have to learn to accept your self first and be happy with yourself and as way of thinking changes, it will be reflected in yur actions and the way you carry yourself. And you will be happy. But it is all in your MIND.

By now, we should know that only one thing is important to the life of a person, the MIND. We are what we decide to believe about our selves.

Thus the difference between the confident and happy person and the person with low self esteem is that
1. the confident person LOVES and accepts himself and is able to reach out to others

2. the person with low self esteem does not love himself and is always waiting for others to accept him/her and since they dont feel good enough about themselves, they always distance themselves from people

SOLUTION

You have to ACCEPT yourself and that means start thinking the way God wants you to think, that you are PERFECTLY made. You are PERFECT no matter what you look like or what you have done. this is accepting yourself.

1. REPEAT in your mind to your self that you are PERFECT every moment (dont say it out, THINK it in your mind)

2. Dont FEAR what people will say or think

3. REPEAT in your mind every moment that you are PERFECT

4. Pray to holy spirit to help you to keep thinking this way.

you will be feeling happy in a few weeks. Remember, this will be your way of thinking for the rest of your life

God bless and help you

Q: How do i tell my mom i think i have depression?
I think i have had depression for about 6 months now. i have taken online depression tests and i have always gotten the answer that i have depression. I also self harm. how do i tell my mom i think i have depression?

A: I was in your position just a few months ago, and I had to get some help.
But my teachers knew about it before my mom did because I was too afraid to let anyone know I was ill. My friends could sense I was troubled, and my mom could see I was doing horrible in school. And my teachers felt that I must have been just skipping because I was lazy, or something. They phoned home one day and I had to meet the principle and my mom had to be there. That’s how she found out..

But telling your mom that you’re depressed isn’t simple. She’ll be supportive, and help you get better, when she knows, and you won’t have so much stress anymore. It’s scary at first. Even I get scared just thinking about how my mom found out. I was so upset and disappointed in myself that I was mentally sick, and that caused me to do so bad in school.

Q: Is there some sort of test that could determine if they have Depression?

A: There is no definitive test, but the DSM (diagnostic and statistical manual) give some guidelines. Pretty much the following are indicative:

- Unexplained loss of appetite/weight (or overeating in less severe cases)
- Loss of interest in normal daily activities (school; work, caring for others etc)
- Feelings of sadness / darkeness / misery; feeling like it won’t end
- Loss of interest in sex; erectile dysfunction for some men
- Feelings of alienation / loneliness / isolation
- Obsessive compulsive behaviours and anxiety or panic attacks are also
sometimes connected with depression.

You should see your doctor if you suddenly have a lot of these symptoms.

Q: If your MMPI-2 test shows depression or anger problems, can you be excluded from a job as an officer?
I recently have taken the MMPI-2 test for my part time job as a Reserve Officer. There were a lot of questions that I was unsure of how to answer. Although, I did answer EVERYTHING truthfully.

I have a pretty low self esteem and I get angry easily. By reading the questions on the test, I have a feeling that a psychologist is going to say that I have depression and anger problems. (This is why I hate taking tests like this where you don’t get to explain yourself.) Would my department have to fire me or could they fire me if the test does come back like this?

Also, if anyone has any information on how the MMPI-2 is scored, I would really appreciate this information as well.

Thanks!
When I say depression, I don’t mean “Want to kill myself.” I just have some self esteem issues. When I say anger, I don’t mean “I want to hurt others.” I have never hurt anyone. I am just very outspoken and I say what I want to people and when someone pushes my buttons, I don’t take it. I say something.

A: Depression: possibly exclude you.
Anger: almost certainly excludes you.

Q: I need to know if my ups and downs are a sort of depression ? Medication ?
I have ups and downs for a few years now. The ups are normal happy moods (nothing exxagerated) but just being myself. The downs are black and sad thoughts, a feeling of the blues but a bit intense at times – incoporated with general anxiety.

The online self assessment depression tests always turn out – that I have mild to none. Second opinion please ?

A: You could have a variation of bipolar disorder. What you are experiencing sounds like something called ‘hypo mania’. It is different from regular mania and less extreme. Bipolar disorder is when you go ‘up and down’. Depression usually is when you only feel down. You should go see a real psychiatrist. They can help diagnose you and maybe get you on some mood stabilizing medication. Good luck!

Q: where can i find a test for depression online?!?

A: watch the video on this site…if u have the same problem then …

Q: How do I get my boyfriend to get a test for depression?
I live with my partner and have been with him for 2 and a half year. His father died 3 years ago, and he didnt let it affect him. Anyway now he is down alot of the time, his sex drive has gone, and alot of people are saying he has depression. I dont know whether it’s heredity but his sister and mother have got it.

I mentioned it to him a month ago and he took it as a joke, I got him to do an online test and it says he needs to see a doctor, but refuses to.

Any advice would be really helpful.

Thanks.

A: Tell him that the worry is affecting you and making you anxious and it’s just a quick trip to the doc – if all is well then no problem and your mind will be put at ease, but until he does you will be uncomfortable and stressed.

Q: Is there a way to tell (without a blood test) if my depression is caused by my thyroid??

A: No, you will need a blood test. Recommended tests would be a morning TSH, free t4 and free t3. Many with depression due to an underactive thyroid gland have below midrange free t3 levels. That’s why a T4/T3 med usually can help with the depression.

Q: What kind of statistical test should you use?
Please help me with this Statistics in Psychology example. I’ll really appreciate it!

The Counseling Center hires you to test whether depression might have something to do with students dropping out. However, this time they would like you to compare the depression scores of students who drop out to the depression scores of students who do not drop out.

QUESTION: What kinf of statistical test should you use to test your hypotheses and is this a one- or two-tailed test and WHY?

Thank you so much~

A: See whether I get your question, correctly:
You want to compare the depression scores of students who drop out and who do not drop out.
To make this comparison, you must see whether the students drop out have higher depression scores than the students who do not drop out. Let mu1 be the population mean of depression scores of students drop out and mu2 be the population mean of depression scores of students do not drop out. Here are the hypotheses:

H0: mu1 <= mu2,
H1: mu1 > mu2.

Here we need to assume that the depression scores of two groups of students are independently distributed. Due to the sample size, we should perform a normal (large sample size) or t test (small sample size).
The test is one-tailed, because H1 is one-sided.

NOTE: Here one may want to consider these hypotheses:

H0: mu1 = mu2,
H1: mu1 <> mu2,

because it is a way of making comparison, too. But because of the first sentence “To make this comparison, you must see whether the students drop out have higher depression scores than the students who do not drop out”, the first hypotheses must be considered.
